Whizzknits are seeking knitters and crocheters who have some free time to help. They produce around 400 small toys each month for children with life-limiting conditions, young patients who undergo blood tests, and for all children’s wards in Morriston, Swansea, and Port Talbot. They also create toys for Ty Olwen, the ITU, and more.
In addition, the volunteers make end-of-life blankets and twiddle mats for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients in local hospitals and mental health hubs. The items are simple to make yet greatly valued. Every item is made to order, and the team knows exactly where each knitted or crocheted piece will go.
The group is made up of friendly, enthusiastic volunteers and has a dedicated space above CK’s in Cockett, where toys are packed, wrapped, and prepared for delivery. Patterns and plenty of support are available for new members.
When children visit the hospital, they can choose a toy, helping to make their experience brighter. Over the past four years, the team has created thousands of items and takes great pride in their work.
The group works closely with local charities, hospitals, community hubs, and other organisations, supporting them daily. Those who enjoy making things and want to join this warm, welcoming group are encouraged to click the link below to get involved.
