South Wales Police has closed Sketty police station as part of a review of its properties, but insists the change will not affect policing services or response times in the area. The station, which had not had a public front desk for over 10 years, was previously used as a base for response officers, who have now been moved to nearby stations in Townhill, Mumbles, and Swansea city centre.
Chief Superintendent Stephen Jones said officers can continue responding quickly to incidents and remain visible in the community thanks to modern mobile technology, allowing them to spend more time on patrol rather than returning to a station base. The building is now up for sale.
