Death of Mr. Thomas Wilde
An old and respected member of the Swansea Licenced Victuallers' Association passed away on Wednesday morning in the person of Mr. Thomas Wilde, landlord of the Vivian Arms, Sketty. The deceased had been ailing for some time owing to advanced age - he was 73 - and took to his bed two months ago, being attended by Dr. Arthur Davies and Dr. Cameron.
The deceased had been at the Vivian Arms for seventeen years, but prior to that held important positions in the management of steel and tinplate works at Penclawdd, Rhiddern, near Newport and Cwmavon.
As a landlord he was genial and much liked at Sketty. He leaves a widow and a grown-up son and daughter. The son is Mr. Tom Wilde, who is now engaged in a works at Briton Ferry, and the daughter (Mrs. Fry) lives at home.
The late Mr. Ben Wilde, who was at one time the licensee of the Vivian Arms, and afterwards the Rhondda Hotel, Mumbles, and who died about two years ago, was another son.
